Tanner EDA Software Tools - Engineering Opportunities in Analog IC, Mixed-Signal, & MEMS Design
Tanner EDA, a leading provider of integrated circuit design, verification and simulation software products, is looking for an Applications Engineer for electronic design automation. You will work closely with the sales staff to support customers and provide demonstrations, technical presentations and product training. You will represent customers’ needs on new product planning and development and will be instrumental in helping roll out new features. This is a high visibility position critical to the success of Tanner EDA. You will be expected to accomplish the following within your first 6 months:
- Within 3 months, be able to provide direct telephone and e-mail support (pre- and post-sales) to resolve complex customer problems for our schematic and layout tools and understand the methodologies and technologies in use for analog/mixed-signal integrated circuit design.
- Within 4 months, be able to qualify customers, provide technical support of Tanner EDA’s products during the sales cycle, and be a key resource for knowledge concerning Tanner IC design tools.
- Within 6 months, be able to provide advanced technical support of all of Tanner EDA’s products.
As a representative of Tanner EDA’s products, you will play a key role in tradeshows, design seminars, and marketing by developing tutorials, application notes, training materials, and demonstration examples. You will provide advanced testing (DRC, Extract, LVS, etc) and documentation to our engineering group, and application support to our technical marketing group to ensure that new products and development meet and exceed customer’s needs and expectations.
This position may be located in Monrovia or San Jose, CA
Desired Skills & Experience
You must be a skilled problem solver capable of finding EDA solutions to complex customer design challenges and have excellent customer service skills including verbal and written communication, phone skills, organization, listening skills, follow through, and attention to detail.
Experience in any of the following is a big plus: Analog/Mixed-Signal IC design using L-Edit, circuit simulation using SPICE, semiconductor device modeling, DRC and LVS verification tools, and IC fabrication.

You will be member of a team of experts creating innovative algorithms for design rule checking (DRC), layout extraction, and layout versus schematic (LVS) products used in integrated circuit chip verification.
The candidate should have a strong background developing graph and geometric algorithms in large scale applications. Experience developing EDA algorithms in particular is highly desirable. This position requires expert level C/C++ programming ability, STL experience, cross platform development ability and proficiency in large scale algorithm computing.
