SchemLib: Technology Independent Mapping Library

SchemLib is Tanner Research's technology independent cell library for use with schematic capture packages. It consists of is a collection of technology mappings between the 1400+ generic cells of SchemLib and those of a particular vendor's digital standard cell library. This promotes technology independent design and offers a more complete and higher-level set of building blocks. For example, most ASIC standard cell libraries do not contain a 10-bit synchronous up counter with parallel load, carry in, carry out, and clear. SchemLib includes this cell, and each technology mapping library contains a mapping of it to a technology-specific cell or combination of cells and wiring. All mappings are hand-crafted to optimize use of each vendor's standard cells. This also offers increased flexibility by allowing the selection of the best ASIC technology for a particular application. Without changing the original schematic, one can map a design to a different technology format in a few minutes.

Currently, Tanner EDA has process setup files for several different process vendor technologies. Please refer to our Technology Files and Libraries list to locate the particular set you are interested in. If you are interested in a particular process technology setup that is not currently listed, or have special requirements in terms of design rule checks or extraction capability, please contact us so that we can help meet your specific needs. We would be happy to develop a technology file and rule set tailored to your requirements.
